2 day pass

this was the kind of weekend that i would have welcomed indefinitely.
it was sunny and breezy warm during the day then starry and brisk by night.
we celebrated the last friday of 2nd and 5th grade at a nearby pizza parlor.
it was early to bed for the whole fam and i slept soundly 12 hours straight through to a glorious saturday morning.
we set out for a 6 miler and left the kids to tackle chores after their cold pizza breakfast.
come afternoon we cheered the mets on to yet another victory.
t. bone made...caught...the game winning out.  phew!
we spent the evening at the in-laws because yipee cousins were in town.
the kids went back and forth between the pool and the hot tub alternately trying to cool off and then warm back up.
by all accounts they were swimming  straight after sunday breakfast.
miss bit has the sun-kissed cheeks to prove it.
we squeezed in a mid-morning 4 miler along a nearby trail before baseball and gardening and laundry.
my brother and sil joined us for an impromptu, yet quite delicious dinner if i don't say so myself.
the menu included grilled balsamic chicken, caprese pasta, ceasar salad with homemade dressing and warm asiago bread.
oh and chilled wine.
mmmm.
and then it was dark and time to say goodbye, but i sure didn't want them to go or the weekend to end, but they did...and it has.
rumor has it it's going to be one beautiful week.
oh and exciting because there are only 4 days left until summer vacation.
for some of us, friday cannot come soon enough.
