weekending

this weekend i started out with a case of spring fever.
not because the weather was all that warm and welcoming, but rather because the days are so noticeably longer, which makes me feel like getting out more.
ted also had his first baseball game of the season and that's another sure sign.

empty nest syndrome was quick to follow.
both the kids were busy with friends much of the weekend.
mike and i actually went out both friday and saturday.
alone.
it's been awhile since we've done that.

then i realized we won't be empty nesters, but single nesters.
lily has never had solo time.
part of me is looking forward to that.
the part of me that isn't already missing t. bone.
and not missing the hormonal teenage daughter vibes.

it was great to reconnect with so many friends at t's baseball game saturday.
he didn't play last year, and it was wonderful to be welcomed back so warmly by parents and players.
it was snowing outside btw.
he played a little first and he caught.
he even benched it for 2 innings.
i know he's itching for his regular spot at short, but he'll have to earn his way back.
it's good for him too.
actions have consequences.
that he's willing to do this proves how much he loves this game and this team.

sunday morning we rallied for church.
what a blessing that was.
i don't know why it's been such a struggle because it's always a bright spot in my life.

mike made the kids crepes for dinner sunday night as a last hurrah to spring break.
i had to resist given my no sugar or gluten promises, but they were gorgeous.
no one was eager for monday morning, but the countdown is on now...
to college acceptance and ap/final exams and graduation and summer vacation.
so much good stuff in the purview.
