it starts with us. it ends with us too.

I'm here mourning the end of October even while I know that November is another beaut that will bring as much, maybe even more, goodness. It was pushing 70 here today so it's hard to be thinking of the holidays even though they're on the horizon. The truth is that's where I like them as a loyal lover of the crescendo. The anticipation, the build-up, the rising emotion is absolutely my jam.

I like to shine the flood spotlight on gratitude during these thirty days. So original I know. No, but intentional. I wake up and go to bed feeling blessed most days despite minor grievances, stresses, aches, disappointments. You wouldn't always know it...just ask my husband...but I believe in my good fortune. I'm a poster child for the little things matter big. Maybe little is the wrong word...fundamental, core, cardinal...yeah that's more like it. The heart of the matter is life is good even when it's tough, there's always something to smile about and if there isn't, be the reason for someone else's smile. It's so easy to be kind, open, engaged.

(My husband jokes that the Progressive commercials are written for me. I tell him I can't help it that strangers talk to me and it's just rude not to answer. And it's true...sometimes I just cannot keep my mouth shut.)

This world is in desperate need of compassion, connection, consideration more than I can remember in decades, and I, for one, intend to do my part day by day, interaction by interaction. Please join me.
